Brian is an authentic leader; a courageous visionary, he takes on the hard stuff, being gentle with those joining him on the journey. And to top it off – a fan of U2. How many people can go to a U2 concert with their pastor?

How did you come to MB?
God brought the idea of Metrobrook to me back in 2004. After several months of prayer and discussion with the leadership at Elmbrook Church, I was asked to lead a new work in the city-center of Milwaukee.
Describe your role at MB.
As Lead Pastor, I have the privilege of serving alongside a great team of pastors, elders and ministry leaders. I see my responsibility as equipping God’s people at Metrobrook for works of service so that we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:11-13).
What is the best part about your role?
I love to introduce the spiritually curious to Jesus. There’s nothing in ministry that compares to that! I love to preach God’s Word. I love to hear people share their stories of how God is still changing lives today. I love to see people from Metrobrook move out of their comfort zone and take risks for the sake of the Gospel.
If you were a color, what color would you be and why?
Badger Red. Had you seen my last office?
What do you count as the greatest invention of the last 100 years? Why?
Mapquest because I can get lost in my own driveway.
What is your favorite place on earth?
Camp Randall Stadium on a Saturday in fall.
What makes you laugh?
Seinfeld and The Office are favorites but the funniest people I know are my kids.
What makes you cry?
Stupid poverty. The HIV/AIDS pandemic. Child abuse. Addiction. Injustice. People who have no meaning and purpose in life.
If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be and why?
As I write this I realize how much of a geek I really am, but I’d love to be on The Golf Channel’s Haney Project. To have Tiger Woods’ coach spend 3 months teaching me would be awesome!
Please contact the church office until Brian Sonderman returns in late spring.
