I am looking forward to seeing how God is already at work in the church in Bulgaria - and as we step out in faith, as a team, I am excited to see God move in power, around us, in us and through us!

Bulgaria

Metrobrook Church sent a team to Sofia, Bulgaria in October 2009. They connected with Pastor Teodor Oprenov and his ‘Social, Medical and Training Centre’. This new ‘Centre’ is dedicated to meeting the needs of many in this large urban center through an Education Suite, Nutrition Centre (food pantry), Medical Centre (crisis pregnancy and other medical care), Job Centre (training and skill development), as well as a church meeting hall (which is rented for other purposes as well) and office space to rent for businesses that seek to benefit the greater community of Sofia. Many of those in greatest need in Bulgaria are of “Roma” (Gypsy) background and live out their lives largely marginalized by the rest of society.

Speaking Their Language

The Metrobrook team helped in conjunction with the Education and Job Centres through the teaching of “English as a Second Language” (ESL) classes; giving people in the community the opportunity to better themselves through the functional use of conversational English. We will also be seeking out ways to develop a long-term partnership with Pastor Oprenov, his church and this Centre as a means to making Metrobrook and this church/Centre in Sofia more effective catalysts for the good of people in Milwaukee and Sofia.
